Domain Setup for Main Website
Introduction
Setting up your website's domain is easy and takes no more than 10 minutes. It involves updating your providers DNS records list. there are only 2 records to update or add - "A" record and "CNAME" record.
In all cases, remember that DNS changes can take some time to propagate across the internet, typically up to 48 hours. Be patient and check your configuration after some time to ensure everything is working as expected.
GoDaddy DNS Setup
Step 1: Access DNS Management
Log in to your GoDaddy account.
Navigate to your product page by clicking on "My Products."
Locate the domain you want to manage and click the "DNS" button next to it.
Step 2: Modify A Record
In the DNS Management page, scroll to the "Records" section.
Look for the A record with "@" in the "Name" column. If it exists, click the pencil icon to edit it. If not, click "Add" to create a new record.
Set the "Type" to "A."
Set the "Host" to "@".
Enter "18.119.18.18" in the "Points to" field.
Save your changes.
Step 3: Add/Edit CNAME Record
Look for a CNAME record with "www" in the "Name" column. If it exists, click the pencil icon to edit. If not, click "Add" to create a new record.
Set the "Type" to "CNAME."
Set the "Host" to "www."
In the "Points to" field, enter your domain name (e.g., "example.com").
Save your changes.
NameCheap DNS Setup
Step 1: Access DNS Management
Sign in to your NameCheap account.
Go to the "Dashboard" and find the list of your domains.
Click on "Manage" next to the domain you wish to configure.
Navigate to the "Advanced DNS" tab.
Step 2: Modify A Record
Find the A record with "@" in the "Host" column or add a new one by clicking on the "Add New Record" button.
Choose "A Record" for the type.
Set the "Host" to "@".
Enter "18.119.18.18" in the "Value" field.
Save the changes by clicking the green checkmark.
Step 3: Add/Edit CNAME Record
Look for a CNAME record with "www" as the host or add a new record.
Set the "Type" to "CNAME Record."
Set the "Host" to "www."
In the "Value" field, enter your domain name.
Save the changes by clicking the green checkmark.
General DNS Setup Guide
Step 1: Access DNS Management
Log in to your DNS hosting service or domain registrar account.
Find the section for managing DNS settings, often labeled as "DNS Management," "Name Server Management," or something similar.
Select the domain you wish to configure.
Step 2: Modify A Record
Locate the existing A record for "@" or the root domain. If none exists, create a new A record.
Set the host to "@" or your domain name without any subdomains.
Enter "18.119.18.18" as the IP address it should point to.
Save or update the record.
Step 3: Add/Edit CNAME Record
Find an existing CNAME record for "www" or create a new one.
Set the host to "www."
For the value or "Points to" field, enter your root domain (e.g., "example.com").
Save or update the record.
